SOUTH ASIAN TABOO: SEXUAL ASSAULT (TW)

⚠️ Content Warning: Mentions of Sexual Assault⚠️

PRIDE MONTH 2021

Despite the stigma surrounding the LGBTQ+ community, especially within the South Asian community, know that you are not alone! Please read to see some resources and note that the UMN ISA family supports you no matter what

STOP ASIAN HATE

During the Covid-19 pandemic, there has been a clear increase in racially-motivated attacks against Asians. We must continue to support the AAPI community by reaching out for support, educating ourselves and others, and keeping each other accountable.

FARMER PROTESTS

As an organization, our primary focus is to help educate our community about what is going on within the greater Indian community. This includes understanding social and political issues while creating a platform for open discussion. One of the issues that have come to our attention is the farmers’ protests against the recent farm acts passed by the Parliament of India.

BLACK LIVES MATTER

As students and members of the University of Minnesota, it is important to act in solidarity with communities that are facing systemic injustice. While being South Asian comes with its disadvantages in a predominately white society, it is important to acknowledge the privileges that come with living in a country and benefiting from the work of several Black activists throughout history.

OUR RESPONSE TO COVID-19

As you all know already, COVID-19 has spread all across the U.S. This has resulted in a rapid change in circumstances and hard times. However, by taking precautions and reaching out to resource providers, we will overcome this pandemic together.

We hope that these resources and tips will help you thrive even in the midst of the pandemic. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to us. Additionally, please let us know how ISA can better support you. Please stay safe and healthy!

Warm regards,

Indian Student Association
